Used for: Mapress 316 stainless steel pressure system & Blucher 316L stainless steel drainage system. "It's one of the best products I have come across in the food processing industry," says Gary Thomas, Engineering Manager of Rockdale Beef in Yanco, southern New South Wales. "We've had Blucher in place at Rockdale for 14 years and have never had a failure or maintenance issue."
Rockdale uses Blucher stainless steel products for both drainage and pressure applications. "We've even adapted it for carrying electrical cabling," says Gary. "I prefer stainless steel in our industry (food processing). It's a better product long term, it's easy to work with, easy to use and it's hygienic. It might be a bit more expensive initially but long term it's cheaper."
"A number of years ago we did a detailed cost comparison in a pair of chillers, using copper in one and Blucher stainless steel in the other. The stainless steel cost us a bit more but we picked that up in labour. We don't have to have qualified people do the work, which saves on costs and frees our higher skilled people up to do what we need them to do."
"Mapress is easy to use - and faster and, in meat processing, you want the shortest shut down periods you can. We keep a stock of Blucher up here but when I need to get supplies from Adelaide, they're always here within a day, day and a half." |
