The Mapress system was chosen as time was a major factor on this project. At the time, there was a lack of pipe fitters available to install all of the lines in socket weld. The Luggage Point Alliance needed a product that would allow them to use different trades to install the piping.

The Mechanical Superintendent for Luggage Point had previous experience with the Mapress system from another component of the Western Corridor Recycle Water Project, so was all in favour of using it again.

The $2.5 billion Western Corridor Recycle Water Project is the largest recycle water project in Australia and the third largest recycled water project in the World. The Mapress system has been used on three sites in the Western Corridor Recycle Water Project. These are; Luggage Point Advanced Water Treatment Plant, Bundamba Advanced Water Treatment Plant and Gibson Island Advanced Water Treatment Plant.
