Bundamba Advanced Water Treatment Plant

Key Projects - Bundamba Advanced Water Treatment

Bundamba Advanced Water Treatment Plant, Bundamba, QLD
Products used: Mapress 316 stainless steel pressure system

It was the Mapress pressfit system's speed of installation that most attracted the project engineer behind the reverse osmosis section of the massive Bumbanda Wastewater Treatment plant in Ipswich, Queensland.

"It was a very fast track job and we were looking for anything that could reduce construction time," said David Nolan, Project Engineer with the Thiess Black & Veatch Joint Venture.

"Mapress was one of the fastest systems we could find that would allow us to install stainless steel piping without having to weld. Crimping joints is done in 10 seconds."

"It worked very well. It's quite a neat system. Another advantage was that it comes in up to 4-inch diameter, which made it more flexible than other systems. We also found the tool was a better design and the lack of pinch points on the jaws means it is safer."

David said Mapress was currently being used for site-run compressed air and drain lines in the plant. "You can also run potable water in it and it has chemical resistant seals. And it can easily handle the highest pressure we want to use."
