Beringer Blass bottling plant - When Blass was looking to develop a 36,000 sq m wine bottling plant in SA's Barossa Valley, everything needed to be of the highest standard, offering reliability, flexibility and value for money.
Plumbing consulting engineer Mirek Janousek didn't hesitate in specifying a Blucher drainage system, for him the "Rolls Royce plumbing solution".
"This installation needed to handle very high temperatures - with water in the drainage system being up to 82C, and sometimes combined with sulphuric acid," said Mr Janousek, from Victorian-based engineering consultancy Beca. "PVC wouldn't have been able to handle the heat we were looking at, and the cast iron solution was not as flexible and would have been susceptible to corrosion. The stainless steel option ended up being particularly cost effective due to ease of installation." |
