History

The BLÜCHER story is about entrepreneurship. The company was founded in Denmark in 1965 by Johannes Blücher Skibild, a skilled plumber with vision, and both feet firmly on the ground.

He saw a need for exclusive floor drain gratings and, together with his wife Gerda, began producing them in their barn. They soon began making floor drains as well, and the foundations of the now extensive product range had been laid.

Over the past 40 years, BLÜCHER has become one of the world's leading stainless steel drainage products and systems specialists.

In 1978, the first BLÜCHER subsidiary was established in England, followed by others in Norway, Germany, France, Sweden and, in 1990 - thanks to another entrepreneur, international marketing expert Mogens Jensen - in Australia. At the time there were no stainless steel plumbing systems on the Australian market; copper and PVC were commonly used. Mogens saw a niche and Blucher Australia became a pioneer.

In 1997, respected plumbing specialist Ian Johnson joined the company as Technical Director and soon after the partners began developing the other important element of their business, Mapress stainless steel plumbing systems, now owned by Swiss company Geberit.

In 2008, Blucher Australia Pty Ltd became part of the E & A group of companies. Helping to strengthen our other manufacturing and project management capabilities. The E & A group develops and fosters cooperation and assistance between companies in the mining, resources, defence and water industries.

Blucher Australia's success is built on the craftsmanship and high quality of its products, the know-how of its people and the ease of doing business with them.
